Three musicians with a common goal: unison ensemble playing!

Together the group [ni:d] dive into the depths of folk music to explore how three people can sound like one. The melodies are always in focus and give inspiration and ideas for what [ni:d] wish to communicate. Their close ensemble playing captures and entrances the audience, taking them on a journey unlike any other.

The trio [ni:d] was founded in autumn 2003. They play traditional and original Nordic folk music with a great portion of playfulness and a sound knowledge of their genre. Mia, Petter & Hanna soon realised that they had a great musical connection and shared the same passion for melody playing with all it's possibilites.

"We asked ourselves if it was possible for the three of us to play as soloists, with all the freedom that it brings, but as an ensemble."

"What we realised was that this takes a lot of time and requires acute listening. You have to really find the synergy as a group before it starts to work. But when this happens, and the three of you are playing as one and you can see your own expression in the other two - that's a magic feeling!"

All the members of [ni:d] have been studying traditional Swedish music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and are experienced musicians who can be seen and heard in many different bands.
