Hanna Wiskari Griffiths

Hanna studied traditional Swedish music at The Royal College of Music in Stockholm where she graduated in the spring of 2005. She also received a grant for young folk musicians from the Bror Hjort foundation: "...for a technical brillancy and engaging performance on the soprano saxophone with a spectaculor blending of innovation, ground breaking expression and the preservation of cultural traditions."
Since then Hanna has been living in both Stockholm and New Zealand. Today she lives and works in Gothenburg as a musician and teacher with a number of different groups as well as participating in a variety of projects.
Whilst the saxophone is not a traditional instrument, Hanna finds new ways to express an age-old tradition and finds the process to be an interesting journey. The saxophone players Sten Källman and Jonas Knutsson have been, and still are, great sources of inspiration, as are the fiddlers Sven Ahlbäck and Ellika Frisell.
